UFOs and the National Security State.
Volume Two: The Cover-Up Exposed, 1973-1991.

In early 2009, I will publish the sequel to my history, UFOs and the National Security State. Volume One: Chronology of a Cover-Up.

The second volume of this historical trilogy covers the pivotal years of 1973 to 1991. In this new volume, I treat the full range of issues presented by the UFO phenomenon during the 1970s, 1980s, and through the end of the Cold War in 1991. I analyze the phenomenon itself, the response by U.S. and global military authorities, and the evolving efforts of researchers to understand what it all meant. Behind it all, I observe the backdrop of a world in technological, economic, and political transformation.

I have drawn from a substantial array of primary sources, professional journals, and personally conducted interviews to present a first-ever history on this crucial era. The nine chapters of my book are:

1. Global Strangeness, 1973-1975
2. Intruder Alert, 1975 to 1976
3. Great Expectations, 1976-1977
4. The Empire Strikes Back, 1979-1980
5. Cloak and Dagger, 1981-1983
6. Calm Before the Storm, 1984-1986
7. Ufology Explodes, 1987-1988
8. To Dreamland and Beyond, 1989-1990
9. False Dawn, 1990-1991

UFOs and the National Security State. Volume Two: The Cover-Up Exposed will be available in early 2009.

I am still in the final stages of finishing this book. Unless you have critical research information for me, please try to refrain from emailing me at this time to ask about particulars. I am doing all that I can to complete this book as efficiently and promptly as possible. After the book is published, I will gladly reply to emails again.

The length of this book will be very close to 500 pages -- essentially the same as the first volume. The difference is that the new book covers 18 years, as opposed to 32 years for Volume One. The difference lies in the fact that the history covered in the second volume is, in my view, deserving of such an in-depth treatment.

I did not initially set out to write a 3 volume history. For several years of research and writing, I assumed 2 volumes would cover everything. But after several years into this project, I realized that I did not want to cut out all the material that would have been necessary to get the entire post-1973 period into a single book. Frankly, there was simply too much of value to include. So, following sound advice from my friend Stephen Bassett, I decided to break the current volume at the year 1991 -- an appropriate year for many reasons.

On a personal note, I would like to thank the many, many people who have supported my efforts over these past years. You know who you are. Please know that you have my most sincere gratitude and thanks. Oh, and a big thanks to Mark Braband at hoveringobject.com for the book cover design!

As far as ordering this book, obviously it is not yet available. I will make announcements when the time is right. Please check back here.
